Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of purple-leafed Oxalis

1. Replenish water

Reason: Purple-leaf Oxalis prefers a warm and humid environment, especially during the growing season, it needs a lot of water and usually needs to be watered once a day. Its rhizomes cannot store nutrients. If the flowers are watered too little, the leaves will lack water. When exposed to sunlight, the water will evaporate and the leaves will begin to turn yellow and wilt.

Solution: Observe its growth status. If the yellow leaves are caused by lack of water, water it in time and water it thoroughly. In addition, you can use the pot immersion method to replenish water. Place the pot of Oxalis in a pot filled with 3-4 cm of water, and let water seep through the vent holes at the bottom of the pot. This will take half a day. It should be noted that you should not spray the leaves when watering, otherwise it will easily cause the leaves to turn yellow.

2. Proper lighting

Reason: If purple-leafed Oxalis is placed in a cool place for a long time and then suddenly moved to be exposed to the sun, it will cause the leaves to burn and turn yellow, and the entire plant will gradually wilt. Another situation is that if the plant is placed indoors for a long time and lacks light, the leaves of the plant will turn yellow.

Solution: It has very strict requirements on light, too much or too little will cause problems. You can place it on a well-ventilated balcony, receive sunlight every day, and rotate the pot appropriately to ensure even sunlight exposure. When the sunlight is strong, you can put a plastic bag on the flower pot to weaken the sunlight.

3. Pests and diseases

Cause: Leaf spot is also one of the reasons why the leaves of purple-leafed Oxalis turn yellow. If the plant has leaf spot disease, the leaves will turn yellow or even dry up.

Treatment method: Diseased leaves should be removed and destroyed in time. It can be treated with garlic water, which is significantly effective in treating leaf spot disease. It also needs more ventilation and moved to a well-ventilated place to facilitate recovery.

4. Reasonable fertilization

Reason: There is no need to over-fertilize, as it does not require particularly high amounts of fertilizer. Excessive fertilization can easily burn the seedlings and cause yellow leaves.

Solution: Add water in time to dilute the fertilizer. It is important to note that when fertilizing, avoid leaving fertilizer on the leaves and water the plant again after fertilizing.
