What to do if Clivia leaves turn yellow

What to do if Clivia leaves turn yellow

1. Astigmatism

Reason: Clivia is a semi-shade plant. Exposure to strong light can cause its leaves to burn and turn yellow.

Solution: Move the plant from a place with strong light, such as a balcony, to a location with relatively soft light, or provide shading.

2. Supplementary lighting

Reason: Clivia likes light but is afraid of strong light. If there is not enough light, the plant will have insufficient photosynthesis, grow slowly, and the leaves will turn yellow.

Solution: To ensure a certain amount of light exposure, the Clivia can be placed in a place with light for a long time in winter. In the hot summer, it can be placed next to the north window so that it can be exposed to light in the morning and evening.

3. Reduce water volume

Reason: Excessive watering will cause water accumulation in the pot, which will cause the plant roots to have poor breathing and lack of oxygen, leading to poor growth and yellowing leaves.

Solution: When watering, water thoroughly at one time and water again when the soil is dry. If you water too much at one time, you can move the plant to a ventilated and dry place or raise the flowerpot to speed up the evaporation of water.

4. Appropriate fertilization

Cause: Excessive fertilizer concentration or direct application of raw fertilizer will burn the plant roots and cause yellow leaves.

Solution: Dilute cake fertilizer or ferment raw fertilizer and add it to the potting soil to reduce the number of fertilization times.

5. Notes

(1) Prevent diseases and pests: If the plant is attacked by a virus, it will cause local yellowing and yellow spots. Spray the plant with medicine in time.

(2) Normal growth: Clivia will age normally after 3 years. It is normal for the outer leaves to turn yellow. Just cut off the aging outer leaves.
