Iris maintenance after flowering, why not bloom

Iris maintenance after flowering, why not bloom

1. Maintenance after flowering

1. Cut off the dead flowers: Iris will produce seeds after pollination. If you don’t want to keep the seeds, you need to cut off the dead flowers. While removing the dead flowers, you can also cut off the flower stalks at the same time. Find the right position and cut quickly. This can reduce the unnecessary consumption of nutrients, allow nutrients to accumulate, promote growth in the next year, and make the flowers bloom better and more next year.

2. Reasonable top dressing: Iris consumes a lot of nutrients when it blooms. If you want the plant to recover after flowering, you need to apply top dressing in time. You can apply fertilizer reasonably to replenish the consumed nutrients, and you can choose dilute liquid fertilizer.

3. Appropriate light: After flowering, light cannot be ignored. It needs to be kept in a bright place and receive appropriate sunlight.

2. Why doesn't it bloom?

1. Lack of sunlight: If irises want to bloom, they cannot do without the factor of sunlight. If the external light is weak, it will hinder the opening of the flowers, and may even cause the flowers to wither and the plants to weaken. Before flowering, it should be kept in a well-lit place with sufficient light to maintain flowering.

2. Low temperature: During maintenance, if the temperature is lower than 7 degrees Celsius, it will also affect and hinder flowering, so the temperature is best kept at around 7-20 degrees Celsius.

3. Infection by diseases: If accidentally infected by diseases, it will also hinder flowering. You can strengthen ventilation and pay attention to prevention, and provide timely treatment later.
