Preventing root rot in hydroponic flowers

1 bottle with some charcoal

Charcoal has an antiseptic effect and can purify water. Adding some charcoal in the hydroponic bottle can effectively prevent the roots and stems of flowers from rotting. Use a small hammer to break the charcoal into thumb-sized pieces, but don't break it into powder. Add about 5-7 pieces of charcoal into the hydroponic bottle, and add new charcoal when you change the water in the hydroponic bottle.

2 bottles of Riga B12

Vitamin B12 has a bactericidal and disinfecting effect. Adding B12 to the hydroponic bottle can not only kill bacteria and disinfect, but also promote plant rooting. Crush the B12 tablets into powder and then dilute them into a solution at a ratio of 1:1000. Usually, drop 4-7 drops into the hydroponic bottle and use it about once a month.

3 bottles of Riga Carbendazim

As we all know, carbendazim has the effect of killing and disinfecting. Adding it to the hydroponic bottle can prevent bacteria from growing in the root system. Mix carbendazim powder into solution at a ratio of 1:1000. Simply drop the solution into the hydroponic bottle.

4 bottles of Riga alcohol

If many flower lovers do not have B12 or carbendazim at home, the simplest way is to use alcohol to sterilize and disinfect. Mix the alcohol solution and water in a ratio of 1:500, stir evenly, and drop 5-8 drops into the hydroponic bottle.

What to do if the roots of hydroponic flowers rot

If you find that the roots of the hydroponic flowers and plants in your home have rotten roots, you need to take action to deal with it.

1. Take the flowers and plants out of the hydroponic bottle, and then clean the rotten parts of the roots. If you find rotten parts on the stems, you can cut them off together.

2. Place the trimmed flowers and plants in 0.5% potassium permanganate solution or 0.1% carbendazim solution and soak for 20-30 minutes for sterilization and disinfection.

3. Disinfect the hydroponic bottle with 0.5% potassium permanganate solution or carbendazim solution, and then clean it.

4. Place the cleaned flowers and plants in a sterilized hydroponic bottle and add clean water for hydroponics. After that, just take good care of it.

How to care for hydroponic flowers and plants in summer

1. Change water frequently

In summer, the temperature is high and the evaporation is large, so the water of hydroponic flowers and plants should be changed more frequently, about once every 3-5 days. If it is tap water, it is best to let it dry for 24 hours before use. Also, do not use too much water, 2/3 of the water covering the roots is best.

2. Avoid sun exposure

The temperature is high in summer. If the water is exposed to the sun, it will easily cause the water temperature to rise, thereby damaging the root system of the hydroponic plants. It is best to maintain hydroponic flowers and plants in a brightly lit living room. If placed on a south balcony or south windowsill, it is best to provide shade.

3. No fertilizer

As the temperature rises in summer, hydroponic flowers and plants will enter a dormant period and will not absorb nutrients from the surrounding area, so fertilization should be stopped. If nutrient solution or liquid fertilizer is added at this time, it will easily lead to the flowers and plants being unable to absorb nutrients, causing them to stink and rot.
