What to do if the leaves of succulent plants turn yellow

What to do if the leaves of succulent plants turn yellow

1. Change the soil

Reason: If the selected soil has insufficient drainage, the water cannot penetrate into the soil in time, the succulents will not be able to obtain enough water, resulting in yellow leaves.

Solution: Replace the soil for succulents with one that has good water permeability.

2. Reduce watering

Reason: Watering succulents too much on a regular basis causes water accumulation in the soil, which will affect the breathing of the plant roots. Once the roots are damaged, their ability to absorb nutrients from the soil will be hindered. If the leaves are not supplied with enough nutrients, they will turn yellow.

Solution: Loosen the soil for the succulent plants by carefully inserting a shovel into the soil and shaking it gently to loosen the soil so that the moisture in it can evaporate quickly. Reduce the frequency of watering in the future.

3. Increase lighting

Reason: If it is placed in a too dark place without sufficient light, it will not be able to synthesize chlorophyll normally, which will also cause the leaves of the plant to turn yellow.

Solution: Move the succulents to a well-lit area for maintenance.

4. Notes

Don't pull out all the succulent leaves as soon as you notice them turning yellow. Because the leaves of succulents store a lot of nutrients, if you pull them out directly, these nutrients will be wasted. One or two leaves do not contain much nutrients, but if there are a large number of them, the total amount of nutrients will also be large. You can wait until their nutrients are absorbed and they begin to shrivel before removing them.
