The outermost layer has a wide membranous edge, light green at the bottom, purple-red at the top, and some bumps. The inner layer is larger and the tip is also purple-red. Its ligulate flowers are yellow with purple-red stripes on the back.

4. Fruit: The fruit of dandelion is achene, which is mostly lanceolate, dark brown in color, only 4-5 mm long and about 1 mm wide. It has small thorns on it, with slender tips and white pappus that will blow away when the wind blows.
