How to make Christmas cactus take root quickly and how to make cuttings survive easily

How to make Christmas cactus take root quickly and how to make cuttings survive easily

1. Cutting time

If you want to make Christmas cactus take root faster by cuttings, you need to choose a suitable time, and spring is the best time. The temperature is neither high nor low, and the climate is also suitable, which is conducive to rooting and survival.

2. Handle the leaves

If you want the Christmas cactus cuttings to take root faster, you should choose leaves that are full and thick. This will have a stronger germination ability and can take root faster. After cutting, it cannot be directly inserted into the substrate. It must be dried in the sun for a period of time, and rooting powder must be applied to the wound. The cuttings can be made after the wound is dry and tightened.

3. Prepare the matrix

The substrate for cuttings must be breathable. You can directly purchase special nutrient soil, or mix it yourself with river sand and leaf mold. Please note that the materials you prepare yourself must be disinfected before use, otherwise it will be difficult for pathogens to take root and survive.

4. Inserting the seeds into the soil

Prepare the soil and start grafting after the wounds of the cuttings have dried. When planting cuttings, be careful not to insert them straight, but insert them diagonally into the soil. Also pay attention to the insertion depth. It should not be too deep, otherwise it will affect breathing. About three or four centimeters into the soil will be fine.

5. Post-insertion management

After the cuttings are completed, they should be placed in a ventilated and dark place. They should not be exposed to the sun at this time, otherwise the leaves will easily rot. Watering must also be strictly controlled. If the soil is moist, do not water it first. You can spray water frequently at ordinary times. As long as it is slightly moist, it will be fine. Do not allow water to accumulate. It will take about three weeks for the plant to take root after this treatment, and you can transplant it when the root system is strong.
