How to grow oleander in spring

How to grow oleander in spring

1. Control the temperature

Oleander will stop growing in an environment below five degrees and will be frozen if the temperature is below zero degrees. The temperature in spring is unstable and the climate changes extremely quickly. Therefore, the maintenance temperature should be controlled reasonably and the growth temperature should be controlled at around 15 degrees. If the plants are grown in the open field, they need to be wrapped with straw or other cold-resistant materials to prevent them from being frostbitten by the spring cold. If conditions permit, you should continue to maintain it indoors and then maintain it outdoors when the climate stabilizes.

2. Increase Lighting

In spring, it needs more light, one to meet its light needs, and the other to increase the maintenance temperature. It is a green plant and requires a lot of light. Especially in spring, which is its growing season, it needs sufficient light to metabolize normally and grow fast. However, the amount of light does not need to be too much, five hours a day is enough.

3. Proper pruning

It grows very fast in spring, especially the main branches. The apical dominance will inhibit the growth of side branches. The plants grown in this way are not very ornamental, so they need to be pruned. When pruning it, the "three-pronged" pruning method is generally adopted. The specific operation is as follows: in early spring, cut off the main branch at about half a meter, and cut the remaining branches from the ground. After the cut of the main branch is full of buds, only three healthy buds are left, and all the others are removed. These three buds can be cultivated.
