What flowers are suitable for growing pine needle soil and how to make it

1. What flowers are suitable for growing in pine needle soil?

Pine needle soil is loose, breathable, fertile, and acidic, making it most suitable for planting plants that like acid and are afraid of waterlogging. For example, Clivia, orchid, azalea, gardenia, jasmine, rubber tree, spider plant, amaryllis, camellia, coleus, dieffenbachia, anthurium, lucky charm, phlox, cattail, campanula, fuchsia, hoya, strelitzia, impatiens, pansy, primrose, and hanging begonia, etc.

2. How to make pine needle soil

1. Collect pine needles: Every year, a lot of pine needles pile up under the pine forest. We find an extra-large plastic bag and sweep all the fallen pine needles home as the raw materials for making pine needle soil.

2. Add soil and make a composting: Find a plastic bucket with a lid, put a layer of garden soil at the bottom of the bucket, then a layer of pine needles, then another layer of garden soil, then a layer of pine needles, until the bucket is full, making sure the top layer is soil, pour some water to wet the soil, put the lid on and place it in a warm place.

3. Judging the degree of decomposition: Pine needle soil ferments fastest under high temperature conditions. It can be decomposed in 3 months in summer and almost half a year in winter. You can observe the pine needles in the soil. If they are almost rotted away and turned into dark fine soil, it means that it is well decomposed.

4. Sun exposure disinfection: The fermented pine needle soil should be exposed to the sun for three days before planting flowers. During this period, the soil should be turned over frequently to kill insect eggs and pathogens. It can then be mixed with other substrates for use.
