How does Chlorophytum survive the winter?

How does Chlorophytum survive the winter?

1. Keep warm

Chlorophytum is a common potted plant and has a certain degree of cold resistance, but the temperature still needs to be controlled in winter to ensure normal growth. The minimum temperature must be above 5 degrees. If it is too low, it will easily cause frost damage and affect growth. If the indoor temperature cannot be controlled, be sure to cover the potting soil with a film to keep it warm and avoid frostbite.

2. Get more sun

It is a semi-shade plant, but the light in winter is very soft, so it can be safely placed in a bright place indoors to give it full sunlight. This will allow it to photosynthesize better, the leaves will be greener, and the plant can accumulate more nutrients, which is beneficial for wintering and growth.

3. Reasonable watering

It likes a humid environment, but in winter the temperature is low and water evaporates slowly, the plant grows slowly, and the demand for water decreases, so watering should be reduced. Watering should be done when the temperature rises at noon to reduce stimulation to the root system. If the temperature is below 5 degrees, you must control the water. It is better to keep it relatively dry. Do not water it casually if it is not dry to avoid water accumulation and root rot. In severe cases, the plant will die.

4. Plastic Sculpting

Chlorophytum is resistant to pruning and can be pruned appropriately in winter. You can cut off the yellowing leaves. If you find any dead or old branches, you should cut them off. This will save a lot of nutrients, which is good for the winter and also conducive to germination next year.
