How to plant Michelia odorifera

How to plant Michelia odorifera

Preparation before planting

Ecological habits

To plant this plant, you must first prepare some organic soil. Generally, you can go to the woods or gardens to dig it. You can dig it a little deeper. Secondly, you must ensure the air permeability and drainage of the soil. The Zuixiaohanxiang plant prefers shade. When grown at home, you need to choose a place with scattered light, and also keep the soil and air environment moist.

Planting time

Generally, planting is chosen in early spring, preferably after a light rain. Remove the outer plastic skin of the purchased Zuixiaohanxiang seedlings and plant them in the prepared planting holes with the original nutrient soil.

The planting process

Digging the planting hole is the first step in the whole process. Secondly, apply a 4-cm-deep layer of organic fertilizer in the hole as a base, cover the fertilizer with a layer of soil to isolate it, and then you can put the Michelia seedlings into the planting hole. Be sure to avoid direct contact between the roots and chemical fertilizers, otherwise the roots will burn.

After the seedlings are placed in, select some fine soil to cover it, and use both hands to straighten and compact it. Make sure the plants are not transplanted too shallowly and water them thoroughly.

If the surface soil settles too much due to water loss, in order to prevent the plant from tilting, you can use some artificial methods to deal with it. For example, you can support the seedlings of Michelia odorifera in the same way as planting cucumbers, so you don't have to worry about it falling over. This will also be more conducive to the future growth of the plant.
