When should lotus be planted?

Lotus is a traditional famous flower in my country. It can grow in mud without being polluted, and it symbolizes noble character and honest quality. This quality is widely praised in ancient poetry, such as "emerging from the mud without being stained, washing in the clear water without being coquettish." So when should lotus be planted?

When should lotus be planted?

Due to the warmer climate in the south, lotus is usually planted between March and May in spring. During this period, the temperature is suitable, which is conducive to the germination and growth of lotus seeds .

Due to the colder climate in the northern region, the planting time should be slightly later, usually starting in late April. Planting too early may affect seed germination and plant growth due to low temperatures.

Lotus planting method

Germination treatment: Before planting, lotus seeds need to be germinated. This usually involves breaking the hard shell of the seed and then soaking it in water, changing the water every day. The seeds will germinate in about a week. After germination, the seeds can be transplanted into potting soil.

Planting method : Choose a suitable container and soil, making sure the container has enough space and appropriate depth. It is recommended to use pond soil or garden soil and maintain appropriate moisture. Transplant the germinated lotus seeds into a container and add an appropriate amount of water. Be careful not to use too much water to avoid submerging the tender sprouts.

Later maintenance: After planting, keep the soil moist and provide appropriate amount of scattered light. The temperature should be controlled at around 20 degrees to promote the growth of lotus. If properly maintained, the lotus will grow leaves in about a month.

Water level management: As the lotus grows, gradually increase the water level, but make sure that the lotus leaves and flowers are always above the water. Change the water regularly to keep it clean.

Fertilization: During the growth period of the lotus, apply appropriate amounts of fertilizer , such as organic fertilizer or special aquatic plant fertilizer, in a timely manner to promote its healthy growth.

Pest and disease control: Pay attention to the growth of lotus, and promptly discover and deal with possible pest and disease problems.

The above is an introduction to the time and methods of planting lotus. Now some friends who have the conditions at home will use the pond in the yard to plant lotus. If the flowers are well planted, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery at specific times.
