Introduction to Chinese fir growth

Chinese fir likes light and has high requirements for soil. It grows best in fertile, deep, loose, well-drained soil. It is widely distributed in my country, and is planted in Zhejiang, Fujian, Taiwan, Yunnan, Sichuan, central Guangdong and central and southern Guangxi, the southern foot of the Qinling Mountains, Tongbai Mountains, Dabie Mountains, etc.

Growth cycle of Chinese fir

Chinese fir is a subtropical tree species, which grows well in a warm, humid, foggy and windless climate. It cannot tolerate severe cold and heat, and is afraid of wind and drought. It likes fertile, deep, moist and well-drained acidic soil.

Chinese fir grows faster in the early stages, and small-diameter timber can be sold. The earliest thinning age is about 10 years old, and the main felling can usually be done after 15-20 years. If large-diameter timber is to be cultivated, 25-35 years is generally more suitable.

Growth rate of Chinese fir

The fir is an evergreen tree of the Pinaceae family. It grows very fast and generally becomes mature in just 10 years. It is one of the most important timber species in my country, with an average annual height growth of about 80-100 cm and a diameter growth of 1-1.5 cm.

Management of Chinese fir growth cycle

About 200 fir seedlings can be planted in one acre of land, and 2,666 trees can be planted per acre. After three years, they can be thinned to a row spacing of 1 meter, with 666 trees per acre left to improve economic benefits.

Temperature management : The annual average temperature in the Chinese fir distribution area is between 15-20℃, the average temperature in January is between 1 and 2℃, the extreme minimum temperature is -17℃, and the extreme maximum temperature is 40℃.

Fertilization management : There are two types of fertilizers for Chinese fir: base fertilizer and topdressing. The base fertilizer should be mixed with the returned topsoil so that the fertilizer is evenly distributed in the soil layer of 15-20 cm. Topdressing should be applied in furrows.
