How to grow osmanthus to make it bloom

Osmanthus flowering time

There are many varieties of osmanthus, so the flowering time is also different. However, most varieties generally bloom in September and October, while Osmanthus fragrans can bloom all year round, but the number of flowers is relatively small. Its flowering period is also closely related to the region. In the south, it usually blooms in October, while in the north it blooms in August.

Osmanthus cultivation and flowering method

1. Light : When caring for osmanthus, it needs sufficient light environment, and the temperature needs to be kept above 5 degrees when maintained indoors. In April, it needs to be moved outdoors for maintenance. Around September, it needs sufficient sunlight. Insufficient light will affect the differentiation of flower buds.

2. Pruning : Osmanthus needs to be properly pruned during the maintenance period. Some dense branches, long branches, crossed branches and diseased branches should be cut off. This will provide a good ventilation environment and reduce the occurrence of diseases and pests, allowing it to grow well.

3. Fertilizer and water : Osmanthus prefers a moist growing environment. During normal maintenance, the soil needs to be kept moist. During the maintenance period, fertilizer should be applied 2-3 times a month. Fertilizers with higher phosphorus content can be used to promote flowering.

4. Potting soil : When caring for osmanthus, it is best to use a flowerpot with good air permeability. You can use a ceramic pot, which will not easily produce water accumulation after watering, and is conducive to the root system to absorb water, which is more beneficial to the growth of the plant.
