1. Cutting propagationCuttings should be taken in warm weather, preferably between May and June or September and October. Choose strong, semi-woody cuttings with a length of 8-10 cm. Cut off the lower leaves to reduce water consumption. You also need to prepare soil with strong drainage properties, pure sandy soil can be used. After preparation, poke a hole in the soil surface, put in the cuttings, compact the soil, and water it thoroughly once. In the later stage, keep warm and moisturize, and it will take more than a month to take root. 2. GraftingFor grafting, choose a sturdy stump as the rootstock and cut a 1.5-2 cm opening at the top. Then cut the bottom of the cuttings into wedge-shaped surfaces. Make sure that both the rootstock and cuttings are exposed from the cambium. After processing, insert the cuttings into the cut of the rootstock, align with the cambium, and tie them with a rope. In the later stage, you must pay attention to temperature control and ensure a warm environment so that it will survive soon. 3. High altitude layeringIn addition to cuttings and grafting, high-altitude layering is also commonly used. Choose branches with better growth and ring-bark below the nodes with a width of about 1-2 cm. Then prepare peat soil and decomposed pine leaves, wrap them in a plastic bag, and secure them on the wound. In the later stage, pay attention to spraying water frequently to keep it moist, so that it will take root soon. Just cut it and continue planting. The survival rate is relatively high. |
