1. Can the cuttings survive?

It is very difficult for peonies to survive by cuttings in the natural environment. Growth regulators should be used when cuttings are taken, which can encourage them to take root and survive in a suitable environment. Suitable rooting agents include indolebutyric acid, indoleacetic acid or naphthylacetic acid. However, you should also pay attention to the method of cuttings. Only if the method is appropriate and you pay attention to management after cutting, can it survive.

2. Cutting propagation method

1. Cutting time: Cutting should be carried out in summer, probably in June and July. At this time, there is more rainfall and the climate is more suitable for it, which is conducive to rooting and survival.

2. Prepare the soil: Prepare loose, breathable, and well-drained soil, preferably neutral, as this will be more conducive to rooting and easier to manage after planting.

3. Select cuttings: The cuttings should be free of diseases and insect pests and should be branches grown in the current year. Remove the top buds and keep the side buds in the middle. Then soak it in the rooting agent for 5-8 hours to ensure the survival rate.

4. Inserting cuttings into the soil: Prepare the soil and handle the cuttings before you can insert them into the soil. Pay attention to the insertion depth, which should be about one-third of the cuttings and not more than half. After planting, water it thoroughly and cover it with a film to keep it moist and warm. It will sprout and take root in about a month.
