1. LightingThe thread iron plant likes partial shade and avoids strong light. It does not require high light. It should be maintained in a place with bright diffuse light. The leaves will be shiny and the new shoots will be green. However, long-term absence of sunlight is not conducive to the growth of thread iron, so it can be exposed to the sun in the morning and evening in spring and autumn, and full sunlight in winter. 2. TemperatureThe most suitable growth temperature for thread iron is between 15-28℃. If the temperature exceeds 30℃ in summer, you should take measures such as shading and spraying water to cool it down. Keeping the temperature above 0℃ in winter will allow it to safely overwinter. 3. WateringThe thread iron plant is relatively drought-resistant. In spring, summer and autumn, you can wait for the surface of the potting soil to turn white and become dry, then water it thoroughly. The temperature is low in winter and the plants grow slowly. Usually, you should keep the soil in the pot slightly dry and water it only when the soil is almost dry. 4. HumidityThe thread iron likes moisture. If the air is too dry, the leaves of the plant will easily wilt and curl. Under well-ventilated conditions, you can frequently spray water on the leaves and surrounding areas of the plant to increase humidity. 5. FertilizationAs the plant grows, the potting soil can be replaced once a year in spring. When repotting, manure or slow-release fertilizer can be buried at the bottom of the pot. During the growing season, water with a light liquid fertilizer once a month. The nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium elements should be balanced, the concentration should be lighter, and thin fertilizers should be applied frequently. 6. Pests and diseasesIn a high temperature and high humidity environment, thread iron is prone to leaf spot and anthracnose, but as long as you pay more attention to ventilation in normal times, it can play a certain preventive role. In addition, thread iron is also prone to attracting aphids and scale insects, which can be controlled by using omethoate and aphidicide. |
