The second time is during the fruit expansion period, when 15 kg of compound fertilizer should be applied per mu. The third time should be based on the growth of the plant, when 10 kg of compound fertilizer should be applied per mu.

What fertilizer is suitable for pumpkin

Base fertilizer : Pumpkin responds well to organic fertilizers such as manure and compost. Sufficient base fertilizer should be applied. Generally, 4000-5000 kg of high-quality farmyard manure should be spread per mu. It can be plowed into the soil and made into ridges.

Top dressing : When the pumpkin seedlings are about 10-15 cm tall and have 3 true leaves, they can be transplanted. It is generally not recommended to use base fertilizer for fear of burning the roots. You can apply light manure water after the seedlings have grown, or top dressing with 5-8 kg of urea, which is called seed growth fertilizer.

Pumpkin Fertilization Method

Fertilizer for plant growth: After the pumpkin is transplanted and the seedlings have grown, if its seedlings are weak, the color of the leaves is lighter and a little yellow, you can give it topdressing in combination with watering, applying 3750-4500 kg of diluted manure water per hectare.

Fruit-promoting fertilizer : When the pumpkin enters the middle growth stage and has 1-2 young pumpkins, it should be heavily fertilized with fruit-promoting fertilizer before closing the rows. Apply 15,000-22,500 kg of decomposed cake fertilizer water per hectare.

Top dressing in the later stage: After the pumpkin fruits are picked, you can apply an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer to them. If you do not harvest young melons and mainly harvest ripe melons, there is no need for top dressing in the later stage.
