Schefflera chinensis soil changing time and method

Schefflera chinensis soil changing time and method

Time to change the soil of Schefflera

The Schefflera can be repotted from winter to before Qingming Festival. It is better to repot within fifteen days before or after Qingming Festival because the weather is warming up and the plants are in the recovery stage. It will be easy to survive and resume growth after repotting, and will have good growth.

How to repot and change the soil of Schefflera chinensis

1. When repotting Schefflera, you need to first take out the original pot of the plant and remove all the old soil. You do not need to shake off all the original soil and can leave some of the old soil.

2. After the Schefflera is taken out, the roots need to be trimmed. It is best to disinfect the scissors before use. When pruning the roots, just cut off the old roots and dead roots. If the roots are rotten, the rotten parts should also be cut off. After pruning, you can also apply rooting powder on the wound to help it recover.

3. The soil of Schefflera should be disinfected before potting. If old flower pots are used, they must also be disinfected. The potting soil can be garden soil, nutrient soil and peat soil.

4. Plant the treated plants in new potting soil without damaging the root system. After compacting the soil, water them with an appropriate amount. After changing the pot, do not place them directly in a sunny place. First, keep them in semi-shaded place for about a week before carrying out normal maintenance.

Precautions for changing the soil of Schefflera

1. When changing the soil for duck feet, you should be careful. If it is planted by cuttings, you need to wait until its growth is more obvious before repotting. In addition, there should be a suitable temperature environment when repotting, and you need to water it appropriately to keep the soil moist.

2. The soil for potting Schefflera should be fertile, loose and well-drained sandy loam. A mixture of peat soil, leaf mold and coarse sand can be used.

3. Suitable base fertilizers for Schefflera include slow-release fertilizers and farmyard manure, which can improve the looseness and air permeability of the soil and are more conducive to renewal and growth.

Maintenance method of Schefflera after soil change

1. Soil preparation : When caring for Schefflera, it is generally recommended to choose fertile and slightly acidic soil. You can choose leaf mold, garden soil, and river sand and mix them according to the 1:1:1 principle.

2. Watering : When caring for Schefflera, it is necessary to keep the soil slightly moist. Usually, wait until the soil in the pot is dry before watering it thoroughly. In addition, regularly spray water mist on the leaves or around it to increase the humidity.

3. Fertilization : Schefflera is generally fertilized once every half a month during the peak growing season in spring and autumn, mainly with nitrogen-scale compound fertilizer. No fertilizer is needed in summer and winter, or a little slow-release fertilizer can be put in the potting soil.

4. Acclimation : If the Schefflera is repotted with its original soil and the roots have not been trimmed, it will acclimate in about 7-10 days. If it is repotted with bare roots or the roots are pruned before repotting, the acclimation period will be extended to about 20-30 days, after which it can be exposed to light normally.

5. Light : Usually, the Schefflera should be placed in a place with scattered light. In summer, pay attention to shading and avoid direct sunlight. In winter, the sun is mild, so you can expose it to the sun more. In addition, the temperature is too low in winter, so you must pay attention to keeping warm.

4. Yellow leaves : The leaves of Schefflera turn yellow after the soil is changed. The main reason is that the root system is injured when the soil is changed. The root system is damaged when the soil is changed, which will affect its absorption capacity.
