Tomato cutting seedling raising technology, cutting propagation suitable time

Tomato cutting seedling raising technology, cutting propagation suitable time

1. Cutting time

The time of cuttings should be determined according to the cultivation environment. If it is cultivated in the open field, it can be done between the end of April and early May. If it is cultivated in a greenhouse in autumn, it can be done from the end of June to July. If it is grown in a greenhouse, cuttings can be started in August.

2. Cutting Technology

1. Choose cuttings: When taking cuttings, you should choose branches that are disease-resistant, vigorous, free of pests and diseases, between 15-20 cm in length, and with about 4-5 nodes. After cutting, cut off the lower leaves and leave three or four leaves in the middle and upper parts.

2. Prepare the soil: Prepare suitable soil and ensure it is loose, well-drained and fertile. You can mix garden soil and decomposed organic fertilizer, and then add an appropriate amount of lime. After the mixture is prepared, it must be disinfected to ensure it is sterile and free of insect eggs.

3. Insert cuttings into the soil: After processing the cuttings and preparing the soil, you can start inserting cuttings. When inserting, be careful not to insert it too deep. About one-third of the cuttings should be inserted into the soil, which is between 3-4 cm in depth.

4. Management after cutting: After cutting, spray water to keep it moist. Then build a shed of suitable size and cover it with plastic film. This can keep warm and moisturize the soil, block strong light, make rooting faster, and increase the possibility of survival. New roots will grow soon.
