How to switch from hydroponics to soil cultivation

How to transfer hydroponic plants to soil culture

The first thing to make clear is that it is very difficult for hydroponic plants to survive in the soil again. Because the root systems of hydroponic plants are very different from those of plants in soil. Its epidermis is relatively thin and it has no root hairs. The roots in the soil will be thicker and have root hairs.

Secondly, the surface of the hydroponic plants will also grow ventilation tissue. Due to the growing environment, the root crown of hydroponic roots rarely rubs against the outside world, so the damage is relatively small. The roots will grow more tenderly and their geotropism is not that good. The root crown in the soil is constantly rubbed against the soil and other debris, causing a lot of damage, and the root crown will become thicker and firmer. Therefore, it will be more difficult to grow hydroponic plants back in the soil.

Another difficulty is that the roots of hydroponic plants have been growing in a humid environment, so they absorb water directly through epidermal cells and do not have too many root hairs. Moreover, the roots do not need to have good fixation in water, and the fixing effect on the soil is not so good.

Generally speaking, it is difficult to plant hydroponic plants in soil. They will not be able to adapt to the new environment and may even die. So if you want to grow it in soil, you can re-cut seedlings or branches. If you want to give it a try, avoid exposing it to direct sunlight after planting it in the soil. Secondly, do not use too much extra fertilizer, and make sure it sits in the water.
