1. Planting site selection

It is best to choose a place with higher terrain and relatively dry climate for planting watermelon. Fertile sandy soil with deep soil layer, good permeability and convenient drainage and irrigation is most suitable for the growth and development of watermelon.

2. Land preparation and fertilization

After choosing a planting site, you need to prepare the land and apply fertilizer first. When repairing the fields, it is necessary to dig side ditches, waist ditches and surrounding ditches. Before flowering and fruiting, the amount of watering must be controlled to prevent excessive growth; after fruiting, sufficient water supply must be ensured to help the fruit swell and increase in weight. Fertilization is related to factors such as soil fertility, target yield and plant growth. The frequency and amount of fertilization can be adjusted according to these factors. When the young melons grow to the size of an egg, apply melon-enlarging fertilizer in time.
