Tomato watering techniques and principles

Tomato watering techniques and principles

1. Watering technology

1. Watering after the value is set: The seedlings must be watered in time after the value is set. There must be no delay at this time, so that they can resume growth more quickly and shorten the seedling acclimatization time. After that, you need to water again after a few days. About five days later, water when the soil surface becomes dry. It is best to hoe after watering so that the water can evaporate faster.

2. Watering during the flowering period: The amount of water should be reduced during the flowering stage. Do not water too frequently at this time, otherwise it will affect the fruit setting rate. Do not water if the soil is not dry at this time, especially before flowering and after the flowers fade. At this time, the leaf transpiration is small. Generally, water once every ten days, and use small amounts of water.

3. Watering during the fruiting period: During the growth period of the fruit, the transpiration rate will increase. At this time, the number of waterings should be increased and the number of days between waterings should be shortened. Each watering should be thorough, usually once every seven days. The soil must be kept moist until the harvest period so that the fruit can mature normally.

2. Watering principles

The specific watering principles during its management period should be based on the growth stage. In the early growth stage, it is usually based on the principle of small amounts of water and frequent watering. In the flowering stage, water should be strictly controlled, otherwise the fruit set rate will be reduced. During the period of waiting for fruiting, which is the period of fruit expansion, a lot of water is consumed. You should follow the principle of not watering unless the soil is dry, and watering thoroughly when you water. Water must not be lacking, so that the fruit can grow better.
