Planting technology and management methods of crawling cucumbers

Cucumber is one of the types of vegetables that people particularly like to eat. It is loved by everyone because of its various cooking methods and crisp taste. The daily management techniques of cucumbers determine the cucumber yield. Here we will talk about the planting techniques and management methods of cucumbers crawling on the ground.

1. Till the fields

When planting creeping cucumbers, you need to choose a wide field to provide space for the plants to grow. Use a machine to till the field and use a hoe to break up the soil clods to ensure the looseness and air permeability of the soil so that the creeping cucumber seeds can germinate and grow quickly.

2. Soak the seeds

In order to increase the germination rate of creeping cucumber seeds, they need to be soaked in warm water at 30 degrees Celsius so that the seeds can absorb sufficient water, and the impurities on the surface of the creeping cucumber seeds must be cleaned to avoid bacterial growth.

3. Start planting

When planting creeping cucumbers, apply decomposed farmyard manure to the soil, then sow the seeds at a distance of 20 cm between rows, placing 3-4 seeds in each place. After planting the creeping cucumbers, water them thoroughly and cover them with mulch.

4. Thinning and weeding

When the creeping cucumbers grow leaves, they need to be thinned out and the poorly growing, thin, small, wilted and yellowed seedlings need to be pulled out. The grass in the field also needs to be removed to prevent the weeds from competing with the creeping cucumbers for nutrients and slowing down the growth of the plants.

5. Water regularly

Crawling cucumbers need plenty of water to maintain growth and yield. During dry periods, water regularly and try to avoid overly wet or dry conditions. Also, as the plants begin to climb, you can build racks, fences or bamboo poles for them to spread and support the weight of the fruit.

6. Reasonable fertilization

Fertilization is also one of the key steps. You can use organic or chemical fertilizers to provide the necessary nutrients for creeping cucumbers. Generally speaking, fertilizer should be applied every 10-14 days, but it should be adjusted according to soil conditions and plant growth. Using fertilizers rich in phosphorus, potassium, and nitrogen will help the creeping cucumber grow healthily and produce abundant fruit.

7. Pest and disease control

Pest and disease control is the key to ensuring the smooth growth of crawling cucumbers and the harvest of good fruits. Cucumbers crawling all over the ground are easily attacked by pests and diseases such as powdery mildew, mildew, and aphids. You can prevent these problems by inspecting the plant regularly to identify and remove infected parts. In addition, appropriate pesticides can be selected for spraying, or biological control methods can be used to curb the spread of pests and diseases.

8. Picking

When the cucumbers crawling all over the ground are ripe, they can be picked. Mature creeping cucumbers usually have smooth skin, bright green color, and feel plump. Remember, regularly picking ripe creeping cucumbers will help the plant continue to grow and produce more fruit. After picking, store creeping cucumbers in a cool and ventilated place to extend their shelf life.
