How to repot the goldfish plant

1. Time to change pots

It is best to repot the goldfish spider plant in spring. After March, it is mainly after the flowering period or after the autumn cools down. These two time periods are ideal for repotting.

2. Repotting Method

Take the goldfish plant out of the original pot. The roots of the plant have grown in the pot for too long. The roots mainly grow in the area where the soil and the pot contact. The old roots should be cut off with scissors or a knife. Remove one-third of the outer layer of the original soil ball. Do not remove all the soil, otherwise it will be difficult for the root system to recover. Then put an insect net on the drainage outlet at the bottom of the flowerpot. If it is a small seedling, you can change to a larger pot.

After laying the insect-proof net, spread one centimeter of soil, add a little decomposed organic fertilizer or slow-release compound fertilizer, and then cover it with another centimeter of soil. Place the original soil ball from which the outer roots have been removed in the center of the flowerpot and start filling it with soil. When the soil is filled to half the height of the flowerpot, lift the original flower ball up so that the original flower ball is three to four fingers lower than the flowerpot. Then fill the soil evenly, adjust the flower ball so that it is exactly in the center of the flowerpot, compact the newly filled soil, water it thoroughly, and place it in a cool and ventilated place for two to three days.
