What medicine is most effective for citrus red spider mites?

Citrus red spider mites are a very serious pest mite on citrus , mainly harming citrus leaves, tender shoots, flower buds and fruits, especially young and tender tissues, often causing a large amount of leaf fall and shoot dieback, affecting tree vigor and yield. So what medicine is most effective for citrus red spider mites? Let’s learn more about it below.

1. Mite-killing drugs

1. Promethazine

Promethazine is a broad-spectrum organic sulfur acaricide that is effective against both adult and nymph mites. The usage is to prepare 73% cypermethrin emulsifiable concentrate into 2000-2500 times liquid when there are less than 5 heads on each leaf, and then spray it evenly on the leaves. Be careful when spraying, especially the main veins on the back of the leaves.

2. Dapoxetine

Dabendazole is a fast-acting broad-spectrum miticide that can be used to control a variety of plant-feeding mites. The usage is to use 10% Aviprolin emulsifiable concentrate at a dilution of 1500-2000 times and evenly spray the front and back of the leaves of the whole plant in the early stage of red spider mites, which can quickly control the damage of harmful mites.

3. Avermectin

1.8% avermectin, which is specially formulated for red spider mites, is also a commonly used agent for the control of citrus red spider mites, and it has a good effect. In winter and spring and summer and autumn, fruit farmers can use 1500-2000 times diluted 1.8% avermectin specifically for red spider mites for spraying, which can effectively control the number of citrus red spider mites.

2. Ovicidal Drugs

1. Clofenac

Clofenac belongs to the tetrazine acaricide class and is an embryonic development inhibitor. It mainly kills mite eggs, but it also has a certain effect on young mites. To control citrus mites, you can generally use 1600-2000 times diluted 20% clofenac suspension and spray it evenly on both sides of the leaves of the whole plant. The effective period can generally last up to 30 days.

2. Ethoxazole

Ethioxazole is a non-systemic acaricide that mainly inhibits the formation of mite egg embryos and the molting from young mites to adult mites. It is highly effective against eggs and young mites, but ineffective against adult mites. When preventing and controlling citrus red spider mites, at the early stage of the mite infestation, dilute 20% etoxazole suspension 3000-4000 times with water and spray evenly.

In general, the prevention and control of citrus red spider mites should not only focus on the mite-killing effect, but also pay attention to the prevention and control of red spider eggs. Therefore, the control agents can usually be divided into mite-killing agents and egg-killing agents. However, due to the strong resistance of red spider mites to pesticides, prevention and control are very difficult. Therefore, it is recommended that you make reasonable compounding during prevention and control to achieve better prevention and control effects.
