1. Time to change pots

Ginkgo trees are usually repotted in spring and autumn. Compared with other seasons, the climate at this time is warmer, which is very helpful for the recovery of the plants. If you choose summer, high temperatures will often inhibit the growth of the plant, and the humid climate will easily breed bacteria and cause it to become sick.

2. Preparation

Before repotting the ginkgo, you should first stop watering and allow the soil to become drier. This will make it easier to remove from the pot and will not easily damage the roots. At the same time, the leaves should be trimmed appropriately to reduce water evaporation and ensure that it can resume growth faster after being potted. In addition, new soil must be prepared, generally loose and fertile sandy loam.

3. Root pruning and potting

Take the ginkgo out of its original pot, remove some of the old soil at the roots, check its roots, cut off all old and bad roots, and spray carbendazim on them to prevent wound infection. Put it in a cool place to dry, and when it is gradually dry, you can put it in the pot. Apply appropriate base fertilizer to the bottom of the pot, then place the plant in and fill it with the prepared new soil.

4. Daily maintenance

After planting the ginkgo in a pot, place it in a semi-shaded place first, wait for it to adapt to the pot and resume growth, then let it see the light appropriately. Pay attention to watering at ordinary times and keep the soil in the pot moist, but not too humid. The temperature is high in summer and the water evaporates quickly, so it is necessary to water in the morning and evening. During its peak growth period, it needs to apply a little cake fertilizer water to help the growth of branches and leaves, and supplement base fertilizer before winter.
