Will Dendrobium freeze to death in winter? How to survive the winter?

1. Will I freeze to death?

Dendrobium is not very cold-resistant, and if the temperature is low in winter, it may be frozen to death. Generally speaking, as long as the temperature remains above 0℃, it will not be frozen to death, but it may be frostbitten. Of course, there are some cold-resistant varieties, but if you don’t pay attention to protection in winter, it will be difficult for them to survive the winter smoothly. Therefore, cold-proof measures must be taken in winter so that the Dendrobium will not be frozen to death.

2. Winter maintenance

1. Temperature: It likes warmth and the temperature needs to be controlled above 5℃ in winter. If the outdoor temperature drops below 5℃, it should be placed indoors for maintenance. In addition, the maintenance location must be free from cold wind and should be placed in a leeward location. If the weather is good, you can move it outdoors and keep it for a while.

2. Exposure to light: The light in winter is very weak, so you can put it in a sunny place during the winter. If it is still placed in low light, it is likely to grow poorly and may also breed bacteria.

3. Less water: When the temperature is low, water will evaporate very slowly, so water less, especially when the temperature is very low. If you water too much, the substrate may freeze. The air indoors is generally dry in winter, so you should spray the leaves with water appropriately so that the humidity is not too low.
