How to prune plum blossoms

How to prune plum blossoms

1. Processing the terminal buds

After growing for a period of time, the terminal buds need to be dealt with. They grow relatively fast and have strong germination ability. If left alone for a period of time, many small buds will grow on the branches. If left alone, they will be difficult to control and become very messy. Some of them will be difficult to form useful buds, and leaving them on will only waste nutrients in vain. Therefore, the terminal buds need to be dealt with during the growth period, and the underdeveloped buds should be removed and not left on them to prevent affecting later growth.

2. Remove the remaining flowers

After the flowers wither, you need to deal with the withered flowers, remove them from the branches, and don't let them stay on the branches.

3. Pruning branches

When the tree is still a young tree, it is necessary to process some of the newly grown branches and remove some of the one-year-old small branches. Do not leave them on all the time. This can promote concentrated nutrient replenishment and allow side buds to grow. Only when the number of side buds increases will the plant shape be lush and full. After the flowers wither, the branches also need to be processed. Diseased and insect-infested branches should be cut off from the base, and some of the densely growing, forked, and overlapping branches should be partially removed. This not only accumulates nutrients, but also enhances light transmittance, making the entire illuminated surface even.
