How to grow Dendrobium? Can it survive the winter outdoors?

1. Breeding methods

1. Substrate: The substrate for cultivating Dendrobium should have good air permeability and strong drainage. Generally, you can choose planting materials such as pine bark, moss, small stones, sawdust, and fern root fragments.

2. Water: It likes a humid growing environment, so you should spray it with water frequently. The air humidity should be above 60%, but not higher than 90%. If the air humidity is high, bacteria will easily grow. Normally the substrate should be kept moist, but not waterlogged.

3. Light: Dendrobium likes a growing environment with diffuse light. During the cultivation period, different degrees of shading should be provided according to the situation to ensure sufficient diffuse light. The sunlight in summer and early autumn can be very strong, so you must not expose it to the sun at this time, as it will burn its leaves.

4. Temperature: The maintenance temperature should be adjusted to an appropriate range, between 15-30°C. The temperature should not exceed 35℃ when it is high, and should not be lower than 5℃ when it is low.

2. Can you spend the winter outdoors?

If the outdoor temperature is above 5℃, it can spend the winter outdoors, but if the temperature is relatively low, it may be frostbitten. Generally, we have to move indoors or take certain warming measures after winter.
