How to grow and propagate asparagus fern

How to grow and propagate asparagus fern

1. Breeding technology

1. Soil: Asparagus fern has strong vitality and prefers to grow in loose soil. When preparing the planting soil, it is best to have strong air permeability and the drainage ability should also be good enough.

2. Water: Don’t water it too much at normal times. Generally, it is enough to replenish water once every 3-5 days. When the weather is hot, you can water more frequently, and when it is cold, you can water less frequently. Note that the water temperature for watering should be close to the air temperature.

3. Light: It likes scattered light, so it should be placed in a place with weak light and must not be exposed to direct sunlight. In summer, good ventilation should also be provided and the breeding environment should not be too stuffy.

4. Nutrients: Asparagus fern does not like fertilizer very much, but the fertilizer cannot be too poor either. It is usually applied once a month, in spring and summer, mostly nitrogen fertilizer.

2. Reproduction Technology

1. Sowing: If you want to propagate by seeds, it is recommended to do it in March or April. You should first gently rub off the peel on the asparagus fern seeds, or you can buy the seeds directly. Then wash it and dry it, then sow it in the planting area. You will see small sprouts growing in about a month.

2. Division: The time is also in spring. Plants that have grown for about 3 years will grow tillers. When they grow up, they can be divided with a knife. There should be 3-5 buds on each cluster, and then they can be planted separately.
