How to prune asparagus fern? Will it bloom?

How to prune asparagus fern? Will it bloom?

1. Pruning method

1. Topping: When the asparagus fern is a seedling, it needs to be toppled. That is to say, the top part of the plant needs to be removed. The purpose of such pruning is to control its height and encourage the plant to grow more side buds, so that it can grow shorter and stronger.

2. Pruning: During the cultivation process, longer branches and leaves may grow on the plants due to maintenance methods and other issues. Such branches and leaves must be cut short as soon as possible, otherwise on the one hand they will consume more nutrients, and on the other hand it will greatly affect the appearance.

3. Diseased branches: After the plant is attacked by diseases and insects, its growth will be restricted. Any diseased leaves or branches with insects should be cut off and burned. At the same time, you should buy medicine as soon as possible to allow the plant to return to normal growth as soon as possible.

4. Others: When asparagus fern grows, its branches and leaves will turn yellow. These branches and leaves that grow poorly should also be cut off. In addition, very weak branches and leaves must also be pruned to promote the growth of strong branches.

2. Can it bloom?

Asparagus fern can bloom, but if it is cultivated for a short time, it will not bloom. Generally speaking, it takes about 3 or 4 years of cultivation before it has a chance to bloom. However, if the cultivation method is not reasonable, it will be difficult for it to bloom. As long as it is properly maintained and allowed to grow for a certain number of years, it will be able to bloom. Its flowering period is in autumn, around September to October.
