Selection of stems and branches for cuttings You should choose fresh and tender stems and branches with good genetic traits and high yield, without any disease or defects, so as to facilitate the growth of new roots and new shoots. The length of the cuttings should be 10-14 cm. After cutting, insert the cuttings into the soil in time, otherwise they should be placed in a dark place or covered with a damp cloth to prevent dehydration. 2. Cutting time Although ginseng fruit can be propagated by cuttings all year round, the survival rate is highest in spring and autumn. It is best to do cuttings after 4 pm during the day to increase the survival rate. The suitable temperature for cuttings can be within the range of 15-30℃. 3. Cutting method Before cuttings, water them sufficiently, then insert them directly into the soil, cover them with soil and compact them tightly so that the cuttings are about 46 cm above the ground. The row spacing is about 10-15 cm, and the plant spacing is about 6 cm. Cuttings can also be carried out with a row spacing of 15 cm and a plant spacing of 5 cm. If you use seedling containers for cuttings, insert one branch in each container, and the depth of the soil should be about 1/2 of the length of the branch. After all the planting is completed, sprinkle a layer of fine soil to prevent soil moisture from evaporating. 4. Management after cutting (1) Shade and sun protection: During the period from late spring to summer and autumn, in order to prevent the seedlings from being exposed to the scorching sun, they should be shaded and sprayed with fine water. After the seedlings grow new roots, the shading tools can be removed. (1) Keep warm: If you are taking cuttings in winter or when the temperature is low, to prevent frost damage, it is advisable to do it in a solar greenhouse or a plastic greenhouse , and use a small arch shed to cover it with plastic film and straw mats. (3) Fertilization to promote growth: After the seedlings have taken root, they can be top-dressed with decomposed human feces and urine to promote the growth of new roots and new shoots.
