Lotus planting method, lotus growth process

Lotus planting method, lotus growth process

1. Planting method

1. Time: Planting should be done in spring as much as possible. The temperature is high and everything is in a stage of vigorous growth. The survival rate is higher at this time. Planting can be done around Qingming Festival. The temperature in the north is relatively low, so the time can be postponed appropriately.

2. Choose lotus roots: You can use seed lotus roots for direct planting. You must choose them carefully, requiring them to grow well and be complete and not broken.

3. Preparation: The container should not be too large, with a diameter of about 30-60 cm and a height of no more than 50 cm. Try to use pond mud as the soil. If not available, you can use garden soil, sandy soil, or loess.

4. Planting: Plant the selected lotus roots at an angle, leaving the tail end exposed in the soil. Add water after planting, but not too much, just about 3-5 cm deep. The water level can be raised as the plant grows.

2. Growth process

The growth process of lotus mainly consists of six stages. From planting to the unfolding of the first floating leaf, this is the budding stage. Then it enters the seedling stage, and then the leaf-standing stage. At this time, the yellow leaves should be removed. Then, from the appearance of flower buds, it is the flowering and fruiting stage. After the fruit is ripe, the above-ground part turns yellow and withers, which is the withering stage. The temperature gradually becomes colder and it enters the dormant period, which lasts until before the budding in the second year.
