How to grow long-leaf fern

How to grow long-leaf fern

1. Cultivation medium

When cultivating long-leaf kidney ferns, the requirements for the substrate are not very strict. It only needs to be loose, breathable and fertile. Coarse sand, coconut coir and humus can be mixed in equal proportions.

2. Light supplement

It likes diffuse light and cannot lack sunlight, otherwise the leaves will grow poorly and fall off. It can be kept under bright light, but avoid direct sunlight. If the light is too strong, it will cause the leaves to turn yellow.

3. Apply moisture

A humid environment is conducive to growth and development, and regular watering is needed to maintain the demand. Evaporation is faster in summer. In addition to keeping the soil in the pot moist, it is also necessary to increase the air humidity and spray water on the leaves appropriately to keep the leaves green and shiny. However, when watering, be careful to control the amount and do not allow water to accumulate in the potting soil.

4. Apply fertilizer

During the growing season, in order to ensure normal and vigorous growth, fertilizer is needed regularly, and thin liquid fertilizer is applied every half a month to ensure a good nutrient supply.

5. Temperature range

It likes a cool environment, and the most suitable temperature for growth is around 22-28℃. Its leaves are relatively thick and can withstand low temperatures of around 10℃, but it is best to move it indoors and take good warming measures.
