Tips for growing gardenia

Tips for growing gardenia

1. Acidic soil

It is an acidic soil plant and has certain requirements for soil quality. The pH value should be controlled at around 4.0-6.5. It is more suitable for growth within this range. You can provide it with well-drained acidic soil, but you must not use heavy alkaline soil.

2. Sufficient water

It likes a humid growing environment, so water must be replenished in time, kept moist during the growing period, and watered in the pot in time. Also, pay attention to increasing the humidity of the air and spray water on the leaves 2-3 times a day. This will not only replenish water, but also make the leaves shiny and beautiful. After the flower buds grow out, you need to control watering to prevent them from falling.

3. Sufficient fertilizer

It likes fertilizer very much. When repotting, add organic fertilizer as base fertilizer. Fertilize frequently during the growing period, and apply organic liquid fertilizer every 10 days or so. After the flower buds grow, apply phosphate fertilizer 2-3 times.

4. Lighting

It likes semi-shade and is afraid of direct strong light. The daily shade is about 50%. If it is exposed to the scorching sun, the leaves will turn yellow, so it is best to keep it in a cool place with scattered light.

5. Temperature range

The most suitable temperature for growth is within the range of 18℃-22℃. It has poor cold resistance and the temperature in winter needs to be kept above 0℃.

6. Timely pruning

It has a very strong sprouting ability, so it needs to be pruned in time to promote the sprouting of new branches.
