How to grow zebra aloe

How to grow zebra aloe

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: Zebra Aloe prefers warmth, and the temperature between 20 and 28 degrees is more suitable. In winter, since it is relatively afraid of cold, try to ensure that the wintering temperature is above ten degrees to avoid freezing.

2. Light: Zebra Aloe is light-loving. It can tolerate partial shade to a certain extent, but it cannot tolerate long periods of shade. Generally speaking, it can provide shade in the summer and full sunlight in other seasons. In winter, sunlight is also very important, otherwise its leaves may turn red and it will also affect its growth next year.

3. Watering: Zebra aloe is very drought-resistant, but it is not waterlogged. Therefore, watering should be based on the principle of "better dry than wet". During the growing season, the substrate can be kept in a semi-moist state. In winter, it needs to be a little drier.

4. Fertilization: Zebra Aloe has a very limited demand for fertilizer. Generally speaking, it is only used in spring. And you don't need too much, usually once or twice is enough. Liquid fertilizer can be used.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: It can be propagated by division. The method is very simple and can be done all year round. During the actual operation, choose a strong and vigorously growing mother plant, and then observe whether there are small plants growing on it. These can be used as breeding materials. After peeling them, plant them in pots separately. Maintenance is also relatively simple.

2. Repotting: Try to repot once a year, the best time is from April to May. It can also be carried out together with breeding, which is relatively convenient. When choosing soil, the main considerations are looseness and drainage. Specifically, loam and sandy soil can be used.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Diseases: The two main diseases are "brown spot" and "root rot". Both can be controlled by Zineb. The former needs to be assisted by leaf pruning, while the latter requires water control.

2. Pests: mainly two types of pests: whiteflies and scale insects. You can use the emulsifiable concentrate of malathion to deal with them.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: Zebra aloe is non-toxic, and its leaves have a strong ability to absorb harmful substances.

2. Can it be grown at home? It has a very good effect as a foliage plant and can be used for viewing at home.
