How to graft roses onto willow trees

How to graft roses onto willow trees

1. Can it be grafted?

Willows cannot be grafted onto roses because the two trees belong to different families. Willow is a general term for trees belonging to the Salicaceae family, while roses are shrubs belonging to the Rosaceae family. The affinity between the two is too different, so the affinity is not high and it is difficult to graft them successfully. If you want to graft roses, you need to first choose a suitable rootstock. The stronger the affinity, the higher the chance of success, and the two can also grow in harmony. Willow trees can also be grafted from the same family, such as ornamental willows like golden willow and weeping willow, but other tree species cannot be grafted.
