Can yellow jasmine be propagated by cuttings?

Can yellow jasmine be propagated by cuttings?

1. Can it be propagated by cuttings?

Yellow jasmine is generally not propagated by cuttings, because its branches are not easy to take root, so it is difficult for cuttings to survive. It is usually propagated by grafting, but can also be propagated by sowing or high pressure. In addition, domestic cultivation often fails to produce fruit and be harvested due to climatic reasons.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Grafting: Grafting is a commonly used method for Glehnia littoralis, usually carried out in spring. Choose purple magnolia or yellow magnolia as the rootstock, cut it from the root upwards, and make a cut at the junction of the bark and the wood, with a depth of about 1 cm. Take a healthy branch, bevel the base, and fit it into the wood of the rootstock. After tying it tightly, cover it with plastic wrap. After grafting, make sure the wound does not come into contact with water, especially during the rainy season.

2. Sowing: The fruits of the yellow jasmine are relatively rare. The fruits are about the size of pigeon eggs, and there are red seeds inside when opened. After removing the seeds, store them in the sand and wait until spring to sow them. Choose loose and fertile soil, place the seeds in it, and cover them with a layer of fine soil. The seeds will germinate in about a month.

3. High pressure: Glehnia littoralis can also be propagated by high pressure. Select a healthy branch and ring it at a certain distance from the top, with a width of about 2 cm. Then wrap the ringed area with soil and use plastic film to keep it moist. After it takes root, cut the branches and transplant them.
