How to plant onions in pots after they sprout

1. Planting conditions

After you find that the onion has sprouted, it can still be eaten, but you can also plant it into a potted plant so that you can display it at home for viewing. When planting, the surrounding climate must be mild and suitable. It is difficult for it to survive in an environment with very low temperatures.

2. Choose onions

After the onions sprout, select those that are intact in appearance, without damage, and free of pests and diseases for planting. Such onions have a higher survival rate and will not have too many problems later. If your onions are not sprouted at home, you can buy them home and they will sprout after four or five days.

3. Peel off the skin

There will be some hard old skin on the outside of the onion, which needs to be peeled off first, but when peeling, be sure not to damage the root system underneath, otherwise it will be difficult to absorb nutrients to maintain growth. Do not remove the terminal buds at the top, as keeping them will promote the growth of green branches and leaves.

4. Remove the sprouts

Cut the onion in the middle, but avoid the tender sprouts and be sure not to damage them. Take out the young sprouts and continue to eat them if the outer wrapping is not damaged.

5. Planting in pots

Prepare the flower pots. You can use pots of appropriate size. The material must be transparent and filled with loose, fertile soil. Dig a small hole in the soil and plant the onion in the pot, with the top of the onion exposed on the soil surface. Pay attention to management after planting and ensure good light, water and other conditions.
