Why doesn't Clivia bloom?

Why doesn't Clivia bloom?

1. Soil compaction

Reason: The most feared thing when growing Clivia is that the soil is too compacted. If the soil has not been changed from the beginning of cultivation, the cultivation soil will lose permeability, and the roots of the plant will not be able to absorb water and nutrients, resulting in the plant not blooming.

Solution: You should replace it with breathable soil in time to ensure the air permeability of the cultivation soil. It is best to fertilize it once in the spring every year, and also turn the soil more often to make the soil more breathable.

2. No nutrients

Reason: If the cultivated Clivia never blooms, it is very likely that there is a lack of nutrients in the soil. It needs to absorb a certain amount of phosphorus before blooming, so if it is not supplemented with nutrients for a long time, it will not bloom.

Solution: You need to fertilize it before it blooms to ensure sufficient nutrients. You can apply a certain amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, which can promote the differentiation of flower buds and make it easier to bloom.

3. Unsuitable temperature

Reason: The temperature in the breeding environment cannot be too low. If it grows in a colder environment, it will be difficult to produce flower buds, which will affect flowering.

Solution: You should pay attention to keeping it warm in winter and try to keep it indoors. Do not place it outdoors during the coldest season, as it will not only fail to bloom but will also be frozen.
