What to do if Phalaenopsis leaves turn black

What to do if Phalaenopsis leaves turn black

1. Provide shade in time

Reason: Phalaenopsis is suitable for growing in a semi-shady environment and should not be exposed to strong light. Strong light can burn the leaves and cause black spots to appear.

Solution: Place the Phalaenopsis in a cool and ventilated place. Wait for its leaves to recover before moving it to a place with scattered light. If planted outdoors, you can provide appropriate shade to avoid direct sunlight at noon.

2. Improve ventilation

Reason: Phalaenopsis has high requirements for air quality. An unventilated environment is not suitable for its growth. Smoke and dust will cause damage and cause black spots to appear on the leaves.

Solution: Place the Phalaenopsis in a well-ventilated area. Pay attention to cleaning the room and keeping it clean. Wipe the blades regularly with a clean cloth to avoid dust absorption.

3. Be careful with fertilization

Cause: If fertilizer accidentally drops onto the leaves of Phalaenopsis, it can easily cause black spots to appear on the leaves.

Solution: Be careful when applying fertilizer. If this happens again, wash the fertilizer off the leaves with clean water as soon as possible and wipe them clean with a rag.

4. Prevention and Control of Anthracnose

Cause: During summer heat and poor air circulation, Phalaenopsis orchids are susceptible to anthracnose, a disease that causes dark spots on the leaves.

Solution: Place the Phalaenopsis in a cool and ventilated place, and water it regularly to cool it down. Cut off diseased leaves to avoid infection. In addition, you should spray carbendazim once every half a month to prevent recurrence.
