How often should you water a cactus?

The amount of water consumed by cacti varies in different seasons. In the peak growing seasons of spring and autumn, watering is usually required once a week. Although the temperature is high in summer, the air humidity is high, so it is not necessary to water too frequently, and the soil should be slightly dry. In winter, the temperature is low, and less water is needed at this time, and once every 20 days or so is enough.

The correct way to water cactus

1. Spring is the growing period of cactus. A lot of water is stored in its sphere, so there is no need to water it too much. Water needs to be replenished in time in summer. If there is hot and rainy weather, the soil in the pot should be kept dry and well ventilated.

2. In winter, the growth of cactus slows down and it enters a dormant state. Watering should be done at the warmer time of noon, and do not use too cold water.

3. When watering a cactus, do not pour water directly from the top of the ball, but slowly pour it along the sides of the flowerpot onto the soil. It is best to choose purified water, or you can choose rainwater or clean lake water. These waters are good for the growth of the plant.

Overwatering of cactus

Too much water will make the pot soil airtight, and the roots will rot without air, eventually causing the whole plant to die. If you find this situation, drain all the excess water as soon as possible, increase ventilation, and loosen the surface soil frequently.

This can speed up the evaporation of water, recover faster, and reduce damage to it. If there is too much water, you can also take out the plant and dry it in the sun, and then put it back in the pot after the soil ball is dry.
