How to grow Osmanthus fragrans in spring

How to grow Osmanthus fragrans in spring

1. Watering

Osmanthus fragrans is relatively drought-resistant and does not require much water, but spring is its growing season and its water consumption will be slightly more than usual, so the watering frequency needs to be increased on the original basis. In general, watering twice a week is enough. When watering, make sure the soil is completely wet, but there is no water accumulation in the soil.

2. Lighting

Generally, sun-loving plants have a particularly high demand for sunlight, and this plant is no exception, especially during the growing season in spring. You can place it in a sunny place for maintenance without worrying about it being scorched by the sun. When summer is approaching, the sunlight will be stronger, so you can just spray some water mist to cool down.

3. Temperature

The temperature suitable for its growth is around 18 degrees. It is difficult to meet this requirement by open-field maintenance in early spring, so try not to maintain it in the open field too early. If you must maintain it outdoors, you must also take anti-cold measures, because if the temperature drops below zero degrees, the plant will be frostbitten.

4. Pruning

It can be pruned lightly in spring, because the growth period recovers relatively quickly and has little impact on the overall condition of the plant. When pruning, you can cut off all the redundant, unhealthy, and damaged branches. After pruning, do not let the plant come into contact with water for the time being. After the cut is dry, you can maintain it normally.
