How to grow pitcher plants

How to grow pitcher plants

1. Breeding methods

1. Temperature: Pay attention to the temperature when growing pitcher plants. It is best to maintain it at around 20-30℃. The temperature should not be too low when breeding in winter. When the temperature drops to around 10℃, the growth will stop, so pay attention to adjust the temperature at all times.

2. Substrate: Use a loose substrate when cultivating. If you can prepare it yourself, you can mix peat and perlite for cultivation.

3. Light: It prefers sunlight. During the maintenance period, it is necessary to ensure sufficient light. Only in this way can it grow stronger. However, when the sun is strong in midsummer, you need to provide some shade, and reduce the light appropriately during the dormant period. It is best to receive 6-8 hours of light during its growth period.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Cutting: This method can be done by leaf cuttings or rhizome cuttings. For leaf cuttings, cut a piece of full leaves from the mother plant, dry it slightly, and then insert it into the soil at an angle. For rhizome cuttings, cut the rhizomes into small sections of 2.5 cm, disinfect the incisions, place them on the substrate, and wait for germination.

2. Sowing: Before sowing, the seeds must be refrigerated for about 1-2 months, kept in a moist state, then wrapped with paper towels and properly disinfected. When sowing, the temperature should be maintained at around 15-30℃. After sowing into the substrate, cover with a layer of soil. It will germinate in about a month.
