Does nasturtium prefer shade or sun?

Nasturtium is a relatively easy-to-grow flower and can be grown at home. Nasturtium is a sun-loving plant. During the cultivation process, the plant needs to receive more than 6 hours of sunlight every day to meet its growth and development needs, and it cannot be placed in the shade for a long time during this period.

Does nasturtium like the sun?

Nasturtium is a sun-loving plant and basically needs to receive light every day. It can be exposed to direct sunlight. Except for summer, direct sunlight in other seasons will not affect its growth.

Nasturtium can be exposed to the sun in summer, but not excessively. If sunburned, the flowers will wither, the leaves will turn yellow, and slowly bend. If the plant is sunburned, it needs to be moved to a place with scattered light as soon as possible for maintenance.

Is nasturtium shade tolerant?

Nasturtium can tolerate short-term shade and cannot be planted directly in a shady place. If it does not see the sunlight, the nasturtium will be underdeveloped and will not grow large, so we can usually grow it on the balcony or in the courtyard.

Nasturtium growth environment

Nasturtium prefers neutral soil. It is best to use sandy soil with high organic matter content and good air permeability, and maintain its pH between 5-6. Nasturtium is native to Central and South America. It likes mild climate and cannot tolerate severe cold or heat. The suitable growth temperature is 18-24℃.

Nasturtium does not like water, but it likes moisture and is afraid of waterlogging. The soil in the pot must be loose, fertile and well-drained. The principle of watering is "small water and frequent watering" to keep the soil in the pot moist but not waterlogged.
