How to propagate Deutzia

How to propagate Deutzia

1. Division method

It is recommended to divide the plants in early spring or late autumn, and prepare a sharp knife or shovel. There is no need to take the mother plant out of the soil. Just cut the new plant directly from the mother plant. Each plant should have 1-2 branches, and then plant them separately. The mother plant that has been divided can be divided again in the second year.

2. Seeding method

The method of seed propagation should be carried out in spring. The fruits should be harvested in summer, the peels should be cleaned and the seeds should be taken out. After cleaning, store in sand for 1-2 months. Prepare the sowing medium in spring, sow the seeds into the soil, cover with a 1-2cm layer of soil, and replenish water by soaking the pot. After the seedlings grow out, provide appropriate shade.

3. Cutting method

It is recommended to do it in early spring, cutting strong branches, not weak branches, and trimming the leaves at the bottom. Prepare a well-ventilated substrate, disinfect it, poke a small hole in it, and insert the cut branches into the substrate.
