Lettuce planting timeLettuce is generally planted in spring and autumn, but in some places with mild weather, it can also be planted all year round, with sowing in spring from March to May, sowing in summer from June to July, sowing in autumn generally from mid-August to October, and sowing in winter from early November to January of the following year. Lettuce harvest timeThe sowing time of lettuce is different and the harvesting time is also different. If sown in spring, it will be harvested in June-August. If sown in summer, it will be harvested in September-October. If sown in autumn, it will be harvested from mid-November to February of the following year. If sown in winter, it can be harvested from early March to May of the following year. Key points for high-yield cultivation of lettuce1. Seed treatment Lettuce is a cold-resistant vegetable and cannot tolerate high temperatures. If it is sown in hot weather, it needs to be germinated. First, soak it in diluted nutrient solution for 6-7 hours, take it out and put it in wet gauze, then store it at low temperature, keep the temperature at minus 3-5℃, freeze it for 24 hours, move it to a cool place, and wait for 2-3 days for it to sprout. 2. Land preparation and fertilization The root system of lettuce is relatively weak, and the soil for planting is loose and has strong water and fertilizer retention capacity. In order to improve the fertility, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied. Usually 1.5-3 tons of decomposed organic fertilizer should be applied per acre, followed by deep plowing, leveling the soil and covering it with film. 3. Sowing and seedling raising After mixing the lettuce seeds and fine soil evenly, remove the film and scatter them in the nursery field, then cover with soil and film. If sowing in spring or summer, you will also need to use a shade net or a small arch shed for shade. Wait until it sprouts and ventilate it. When the seedlings grow 4-5 true leaves, thinning is needed. |
