Clivia cultivation methods and precautions

Clivia cultivation methods and precautions

1. Soil

It is a relatively easy plant to grow and prefers loose, fertile, slightly acidic or neutral humus soil. When caring for it, you can mix five parts of pine needles, three parts of decomposed organic fertilizer and two parts of river sand. This will meet its growth needs and make it grow more vigorously. In addition, it is important to change the soil once a year to ensure sufficient nutrients.

2. Watering

Water the plant frequently during maintenance, but there should be no accumulation of water in the soil. When watering, the frequency of watering should be determined based on the growth conditions and seasonal climate. After the temperature stabilizes in spring, water should be poured once a day. In summer, the water evaporates quickly, so water it twice a day. As the temperature gradually drops in autumn, watering should be reduced and it is only necessary to water it once every other day. Pay special attention in winter and control watering, once a week or even less, and prefer dry to wet.

3. Lighting

It is shade-tolerant and light-loving, but afraid of strong light. When caring for it, place it in a place with scattered light, and block strong light in time in summer, otherwise the plant will be sunburned. The winter sun is relatively mild, so you need to let it get more sun so that it can bloom.

4. Fertilization

It is a fertilizer-loving plant and needs to be fertilized frequently during its growth period so that it can grow stronger. However, fertilization should be applied in small amounts and multiple times, and the concentration of fertilizer should not be too high. It is best to apply decomposed organic fertilizer.

5. Notes

Pay attention to the temperature while caring for Clivia. It is a plant that is not cold-resistant and needs to be moved indoors in time for maintenance in winter. It can tolerate a minimum temperature of 10 degrees, so good insulation measures must be taken. If the temperature is too low or the temperature difference is too large, it will easily cause the arrows to be pinched, which is not conducive to flowering.
