How to fertilize crabapples: when and how

How to fertilize crabapples: when and how

1. Fertilization time

You don't need to fertilize the crabapple too frequently, 3-4 times a month is enough. As long as you don't fertilize when the temperature is high, you can do it at any other time. Because, when applying fertilizer in hot weather, the fertilizer will easily cause fertilizer damage after entering the potting soil due to the high temperature, and the root system will rot.

2. Fertilization method

1. Fertilization methods at different growth stages: When the plant is in the seedling stage, it should be given some nitrogen fertilizer to help the growth of branches and leaves. During the growth period, apply small amounts of fertilizer multiple times and do not apply high concentrations of fertilizer. During the bud growth stage, more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be used to help the buds grow and produce more and brighter flowers.

2. Fertilization methods in different seasons: Around April and May in spring, some phosphorus fertilizer should be applied to it; the amount of fertilizer should be sufficient during the vigorous growth period of the plant; the amount of fertilizer should be less in summer and winter, and fertilization can be gradually stopped.

3. Notes

When fertilizing it, do not let the fertilizer touch its leaves, as it can easily burn the leaves of the plant. After fertilizing, you can water the plants appropriately, which will help to better exert the fertilizer effect and reduce the chance of fertilizer damage.
